Oh heyyy! I'm Madison but will answer to Mad, Madi, Maddog, Hey You, really anything but Mads. I just can't dig that one...
I'm from a town right outside of Atlanta, GA called Douglasville and go to school in Rome, GA at Berry College. Berry is a super small, private, liberal arts school, is the largest campus in the world [26,000+ acres] and our Deer-To-Student ratio is 9-1. At the beautiful BC, I'm studying Economics and Spanish so I spend my days conjugating verbs and drawing a hot ton of supply/demand graphs! I love them both and hope to one day combine those loves and get involved in micro-financing in Latin America.
Berry is a work-study school, which basically just means that most of the jobs done on campus are performed by students, so I've got two on-campus jobs right now! I'm on the student activities board with about 15 other students and together we plan between 20-25 events for the student body every semester. I also am a research assistant for a marketing professor and transcribe all of his research for him. Thankfully, my parents pay for the part of tuition that my scholarships don't cover, so most of the money I make goes into savings or groceries/gas.
Random facts about me:
I love crafty things but am a terrible painter/drawer.
I absolutely love a good cup of coffee, hanging out in coffee shops and quoting Mean Girls.
I've seen every episode of Gilmore Girls.
I rarely leave my house without a cardigan and a nalgene.
I have a hard time buying shirts that aren't V-Neck.
I love my Chacos and only take them off to throw on some TOMS.
I am a terrible cook-but I absolutely love Tasty Tuesdays. [Every Tuesday my roommates and I try out a new recipe together for dinner. & Lets get real here, most of those recipees come from Pinterest.]
I hate mushrooms, olives, and writing with black pens.
This will be the first summer since 8th grade that I haven't been to FUGE camps in some capacity [as a camper, chaperone, or staffer] and that breaks my heart a little bit.
I. LOVE. CAMP.
I tried to get my nose pierced last semester in Costa Rica. My mom told me if I waited until I got home that she'd pay for it...and pick me up from the airport. I waited, got a ride home, and saved $30!
I had the chance to study abroad last semester in Costa Rica and I absolutely fell in love with Central America during those three months. I didn't make it to Nicaragua because of some rioting after Ortega got re-elected but I am so excited to spend this summer there speaking spanish, loving on kids, and getting to know you guys. I've been to several different countries, including Dominican Republic, Germany, Austria, Romania, Mexico, and Panama, most of them on mission trips, but never have I ever gotten to hang out/build relationships without the use of a translator and that is what gets me excited about Nicaragua!
& Here's a classy photobooth picture for ya:
So excited to meet you guys soon!
