Hey y'all my name is Brittany Roper. My friends tend to call me Britt, Brope, or Roper. Y'all can call me anything including my given name. I am from Duluth, Minnesota, but currently reside in Roseville, Minnesota (a suburb of St. Paul, MN). I am going to Hamline University for a double major in Secondary Education and Social Studies and have found that God has put a passion in my heart for helping youth. I absolutely love the university that I attend, but cannot wait to graduate! I will be graduating  in the Spring of 2013 with my double major and a teaching licensure.

I currently nanny for two great families and watch some of the cutest kids! I watch two little girls ages 3 and 5 for one of the families, and for the other I watch a 13 year old boy, a 9 year old girl, and a 5 year old boy. God has given me such love for these children and I love seeing the difference that I make in their lives. I also work at the retail store JcPenney. I do like my job there, but definitely not as much as I love being a nanny.

In my spare time I love to be outdoors. I love seeing God's creation in its full display! I love to stargaze and find as many constellations as I possibly can. In the summer, my older sister (who's like my best friend) and I used to take a blanket out to the end of the driveway or to the rooftop of our parents house and look at the constellations making a competition out of who could find the most. Many times we would tie on it, because we only knew about 12 constellations.

I also love to go fishing, swimming, four wheeling, and camping in the summer.  The best time to go fishing is in the dark on the lake to see the moon reflecting off of the water. It’s so calm and tranquil and I love it! I also love to play sports!! I played soccer for 10 years, cross country running for 6 years, track for 7 and a half years, basketball for 5 and a half years, and softball for 3 years. I am also a creative person. I love to paint. I hang out with my friends quite often when I have free time. During these times we go for coffee, watch movies, go shopping, or just spend time together.

I absolutely love the church that I attend here in Roseville, MN called Roseville Baptist Church. This is a Southern Baptist Conference church that does not believe in trying to gain church membership, but trying to help everyone understand the love that God has for each and every one of us. It is such an inspirational church and I absolutely love it!

As I said when I talked about the things I like to do in my spare time, I like to be outdoors, play sports, and painting. I also love to spend time with friends and family. Family is one of the most important things in my life. I am best friends with my parents and one of my older sisters. I get along fairly well with my other siblings also. I have four sisters and one brother. Coming from a family of this size, I have been blessed by God in many ways. I love fruits and veggies, but absolutely despise apricots. I also seem to get heartburn really easily from salad (which is one of my favorite things to eat) and strawberries. I love watermelon and eating different Italian foods. I do not have any tattoos, but both of my ears are pierced and my belly button is also pierced.

I have been on three mission’s trips to Grand Portage, MN. This is a Native American community in the northern part of Minnesota. I went with my parent’s church, Mount of Olives Baptist Church. During these times, I learned so much about myself. I learned to rely on man less and to rely on God more. On one of the trips, I had the chance of a lifetime! I was able to experience God’s power first hand. Through God’s help, I was able to minister to and help lead a young native girl to Christ. I was able to help guide her on a spiritual journey with our Lord God and help her understand that he loves each and every one of us no matter what our past mistakes are.

I am so excited to see how God can use me in an international setting. I don’t know much Spanish (so I will need some help with that), but I am willing to learn and go forth to speak His word. I am excited to see the work that we can do as a team to help the people of Nicaragua and to see what we can do to make a difference in their lives. I love meeting new people and trying new things, which has made me even more excited. I look forward to forming relationships not only with the people of Nicaragua, but also with the people on our team!I know God will use me to His will and that things will all work out in the end!
